I joined the Argonaut in Jan 70 as an RO3(G). Spent a fantastic 12 months on Far East deployment in 1971, still have fantastic memories of South Africa, Mombers, Singers, Hong Kong and Japan. Left her in 1973 but was drafted back in 1986 as the RS and had many good runs ashore and times (Richard Bransons ballon comes to mind).

Just come across this website, dont know if you’ll remember me Chris, served on the F56 from March 87 until May 88 initially as a JRO2(G) !!! Had some good times, Taff Kerr, Big Jeff, Taff Lewis etc etc. Wonder how they are all getting on. I was lucky enough to play footy for the ship and tried to keep a few clean sheets as best I could !! Hope that you are well and one thing that will stick in my mind is the skippers seat in Pembroke Dock !!!! Best Wishes…Brian.
Chris & Brian…was on the Argo as a JRO2 (G)..joined early 87 and left midway through her refit in 88….i was drafted into the rugby team ..toured northampton with Taff Kerr and was taught how to drink like a man by big Jeff….good times
Chatz Harris, my god how old are we now !!!! I remember us as two young juniors joining the argo together and going through basic at raleigh and comms at mercury !!!! Hope that you are well mate and no doubt out of the mob as I am. Yes mate they were happy days other than the crappy nights up north following whales !!! My brother who is still serving as a WO2 sent me a link to this site as my name had been mentioned. I joined Argonaut in the summer of ’85 prior to the Wilmington deployment but I remember when Chris Knott became our RS and I remember Chatz Harris and Brian Talbot joining in ’87. I left late ’88 and went to Mountwise Commcen prior to leaving the service and joining the Prison Service. i was lucky enough to speak to chatz on the phone via a mutual friend just before Christmas, good to see that people are doing well and still remember the excellent times we had back in the day.

I don’t actually remember you but I was an RO (W) on the Argonaut from 72-74 so our paths must have crossed. You must have been onboard when Jan Kerslake, John Uttley, Chris Fagan etc. were there.
